Thursday June 26, 2008. We arrive at the ATV riders course in Warrenton to catch some fish on the beach. we learned a new process of collecting fish that day. We set a net out maybe 10-20 feet in the shore. The net had floaters on one side and weights on the other. We made a bag design out of the net to catch fish. Here are some of the pics we took while on the beach.

As we began fish surveying, the "Fish Crew" went out and set traps to sample the fish enviorment in that specific wetland. We had once put out a few 2 liter pop bottle traps in the shallower wetland areas, but we decided that trap didn't quite work the way we planed so we stuck to the minnow traps. We put four to six traps out in the South Clatsop Slough and Otter Point where we do the sampling. When we come  back the next day to check the traps we would have a bucket full of the appropriate equipment to use such as a measuring tray, two small nets, and a clear visual container. When we empty the trap into the bucket we look at the fish and measure the first five  three-spine-stickleback's (TSS), if we happened to catch another speicies of fish we measure the first twenty-five. Along with measureing the fish we look at the habitat, weather, water and air temp; then we record it on our data sheet.
